RIP to the man who created Steeler Football
In the midst of Gregory Polanco's historic night, a tragedy befell Steeler Nation and the sports world in general. Legendary Steelers coach Chuck Noll died last night of natural causes at the age of 82. Noll would no doubt be on the Mount Rushmore of NFL head coaches and he brought Pittsburgh football to the status it is at today. Here are the numbers:
Pre-Chuck Noll Steelers Regular Season Record:
162 Wins, 263 Losses, 20 Ties, .364 Winning Percentage
Pre-Chuck Noll Steelers Playoff Record:
0 Wins, 1 Loss, .000 Winning Percentage
Chuck Noll Steelers Regular Season Record:
193 Wins, 148 Losses, 1 Tie, .566 Winning Percentage
Chuck Noll Steelers Playoff Record:
16 Wins, 8 Losses, .667 Winning Percentage, 4 Super Bowl Wins
Pretty amazing turnaround the Hall of Famer Noll brought to Pittsburgh football. I don't do well with sad news and I often can't find the right words to say. So instead I will post some of the things the Pittsburgh sports community has said in light of Noll's death.
Few in sports history have accomplished more with less self-aggrandizement than Chuck Noll. Best teams I ever saw. #Steelers #RIP
