I didn't just pick this game because The Shark is on my fantasy team and I need him to pitch a gem tonight.
8:05pm | 903 | Cincinnati Reds (p) | +1.5 (-210) | O 8.5 (-115) | +103 | |||
904 | Chicago Cubs | -1.5 (+181) | U 8.5 (-105) | -114 |
The Cincinnati Reds will visit the Chicago Cubs tonight with the Reds throwing Alfredo Simon while the Cubs will counter with my fantasy team ace in Jeff Samardzija (who I will refer to as The Shark because that name is a nightmare to spell).
Simon has had an unbelievable year surprising everyone by leading the National League in wins with 10 and pitching to a 3.05 ERA. While he is pitching a little over his head, it is still an impressive first half and the Reds sure needed it.
The Shark is pitching like someone who desperately wants to get traded to a playoff contender, putting up a 2.60 ERA in 97 innings. He only has two wins because he has gotten more than two runs of support in only 4 of his 15 outings.
You can count on the Cubs not scoring, and The Shark wants to get traded sooner rather than later so you know he is going out there on a mission. Plus 8.5 runs is way too much for this line, I figured for sure it would 7.5.
Bet: Under 8.5
